Manchester City have reportedly gone back in for Paul Pogba, according to reports. The Blues have been credited with an interest in the Juventus midfielder, who has been linked with a move away from Turin. Pogba has been under the spotlight after the Serie A champions’ 3-2 defeat to Manchester United in the Champions League on Wednesday night, which left Juve out of the competition. Reports suggest City have returned to ‘pursue’ Pogba after it was initially reported he was interested in a move to the Premier League champions. It has been claimed City are seeking to replace David Silva, who was arguably their best player on Wednesday, and are willing to pay £50 million for the France international. Juventus, on the other hand, are believed to be ‘confident’ of landing Pogba for a fee of £150m – which is double the £75m they paid Manchester United in the summer of 2016. Pogba is believed to be highly-rated by Pep Guardiola, who is looking to strengthen his midfield after the departure of Silva. Chelsea midfielder Jorginho is the reported target of Manchester United. The Blues are reportedly eyeing up the Italy international as they look to create a midfield trio that would rival Manchester City’s. Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Granada midfielder Carlos Soler and Valencia’s young striker Alvaro Negredo, who is currently on loan at Spanish club Deportivo Alaves. Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is said to be interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto as a long-term option for the position. United have been linked with Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette as part of a striker rotation that would see Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial moved to the side, but a January move has been ruled out by the club. Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick is said to be leaving Old Trafford this summer, with former England captain Steven Gerrard highly regarded as his potential replacement. The Mail reported United had offered the 33-year-old a one-year deal worth £75,000 a week, but Gerrard has expressed his desire to return to Liverpool, where he won the European Cup in 2005, and where he captained the side to victory in the Champions League last season.
